Peaches first night

Peaches had a great first night in her new foster home.
Here are the facts.

She ate a good supper.

Did her business outside.

Played some with our resident dog.

Crated with a treat (or two).

Whimpered for a few minutes after lights out, but then settled in.

Slept quietly all night.

Woke with a clean crate.

Did her business on her morning walk.

Ate a good breakfast.

What more could you ask ?

 Helping in the kitchen
Supervising the kitchen
Resting (good look at her proportions)

Other things I noticed.

Her pictures don’t do her justice. She is a beautiful dog (IMO) Athletic, graceful and a really neat size. Her size, shape and the way she moves, reminds me of a young Labrador Retriever (or some kind of sporting bread) Her coat graduates from a dark black, to  brown/red, to grey on her legs, and finishes with white on the tips of her toes. The wavy, scruffy coat along with the graduation of color makes me think Schnauzer. So….. if I had to take a guess today on her breed, it would be a Labrador / Schnauzer mix. My guess may change as I get to know her personality.

No, she did not spend the whole night "resting" on the floor. She was really quite active for her first night in a new place. She had plenty of pent up energy when she arrived. The photos you see above, are after a loooong walk.

She was unafraid of household activity and noise. Emptying the dishwasher, using the microwave and the TV had little effect on her. She did great with my husband and our resident dog. Not overly playful, but that will come.

She will need some practice with leash walking. It seems pretty new to her, but she was not afraid and absolutely LOVED being outdoors.

She listens well and seems to have an intense desire to please. This is a HUGE asset, and will serve her, and her family well, when the time comes for training in her new home.

Sorry for the lack of pictures. It was one of those days.
 I will post more soon.
