Camden comes a long way

Camden has been in Wisconsin for two weeks now and has made great progress. She is nothing like the scared little girl we picked up in Hartland. She has become a happy tail-waggin pup, always excited to see us and after countless efforts, her foster brother has finely engaged her into several wrestle matches (his specialty).

Housetraining is going great. She always keeps her crate clean and dry, and we have had very few accidents during play time in the house.

Her appetite has improved immensely. She has become a good eater and is excited for meal time. No food aggression.

She is great in her crate when we need to go to work, and she sleeps quietly through the night. She is currently spending the night in a crate in our bedroom, although she would LOVE to be with us on the bed. (House rules-No dogs in bed with us overnight) She has gotten pretty comfortable snuggling up next to me on my bed in the evenings when I watch TV. She also loves to lay in her pet bed in the living room. I think she could become quite the lazy girl. In fact, we have to convince her to go out for a walk on occasion. Of course it might be that the Alabama girl doesn’t like the Wisconsin cold :) And she is no speedster during the walk. This southern girl likes to take her time.

Camden is very quiet. I’m not sure we have heard a bark from her yet. She is also very low shed. We have not seen any evidence of shedding at all.

Give Camden time to warm up to you, and she will make a loyal and loving companion for life. She wants the chance to show you.

Claire wins the lottery

Claire has gone home with a wonderful couple who is retired and walks in the park six days a week

Claire, you couldn't have found any place better. You are the big winner.

We will miss you. Especially your wrestling partner, Charlie.

A Day In The Sun

I'm not sure about you, but here in Wisconsin we are having an amazing day.

Here are a few shots of Camden enjoying the sunshine.

Camden had a GREAT Christmas. We had a quiet spot in our bedroom all setup for her to spend the day. We were hosting my husbands side of the family for Christmas dinner and thought it would be just too much for her.

Boy we couldn't have been more wrong.

After only a few minutes of arriving my family wanted to meet Camden and my husband brought her out to say HI. Long story short ... she was a star....By the end of the day she had sat on my daughter's lap for cuddles, accepted every treat, and even allowed my brother in law to pick her up for a hug goodbye.

Way to go Camden. You have come a long way. You're doing great.

Camden warming up

Camden has made progress. She is coming to us for pets and treats, but still a little hesitant when we approach her.

Housetraining is coming along nicely as well.
She definitely has the right idea, we just need to work on our timing.
Very few accidents.

Camden sleeps quietly through the night and is wagging her tail happily in the mornings.

What is with the tongue Camden ?
Do you need a drink of water ?

Welcome Camden

We have had Camden in our home about 24 hrs, and have found her to be quiet and shy. She slept through the night in her crate without a peep, and we have had only one accident in the house.

I tried to measure her, but she just wouldn’t stand still. I would guess her to be 14” tall or so at the shoulders. She’s 18.5 lbs, and shaped like a young yellow lab. She has the long thick tail of a lab, but not the big square head. She’s a unique size. I wouldn’t call her a “small” dog, but technically she’s not big enough to be called “medium”. Let’s call her “fun” sized.  Her coat is rough and wirey.

We haven’t quite figured her out yet. She is not afraid of the other dogs in the house, load noises, or the vacuum cleaner, but she cowers when we approach to attach the leash, or pet her.  However, she does follow us around from room to room, and spent 30 mins watching me in the kitchen.  She also loved exploring the house. I think she has officially found every room.

Claire has come out of her shell

We knew it wouldn't take long.
Claire has really warmed up. She is friendly and smart.

It may be a little early to say .... but I think Claire is totally housetrained !

She has not had any accidents. Even when we are gone to work for hours each day !

Claire was not sure what to think of her foster brother at first.
After just a few days, they have become great friends and share things nicely.

Claire is good at entertaining herself.

Welcome Claire

First night went well. We got home late and she was content to just spend the evening in her crate, even though we had left the door open for her. She slept quietly through the night.

In the morning she was hesitant to leave the crate, but with a little persuasion we got the leash on and we were out the back door. She quickly went potty as though she knew exactly why she was out there. (Super) And then she needed a little more convincing that it was OK to go back inside. I had to go to work, so back to the crate she went. When I got home she was wagging her tail to see me, and the crate was clean and dry (yeah). She needed no persuading to leave the crate this time, and new exactly where we were going. She walked right to the back door, and waited for me to lead her out. (What a smart girl). We gave her the freedom to explore a little, but she spent most of the evening playing within just a few feet of her crate. I did catch her sneaking a peek into the kitchen to see what all the racket was when we were fixing dinner. And she did come to check on us in the living room once or twice while we were watching TV. I think it will be a very short time before she feels comfortable enough to join us.

All and all she has done really great. I can tell she is very unsure, but she is so very brave. She does everything we ask, even though it scares her. We have already seen great progress, and she will be out of her shell in no time.

Poor Grigio

Poor Grigio

Her adopter was not able to complete the adoption.

Wouldn't it be great if someone else could step in and be able to take her home by Christmas !

It's been a week

I can’t believe it’s been a week since we brought Grigio into our home.
She is doing great. She is a very happy and smart girl.
That being said, wouldn’t it be wonderful for her to have her own home and her own Dad and Mom by the Holidays ?

Grigio is settling in

Grigio is settling into the Einy house routine. She is very smart and caught on to when it is time to walk, play, and when it is time to quiet down and take a snooze.  She also likes to help with the weekend chores. She follows me to the laundry room, helped empty the dishwasher and had no issues with the vacuum cleaner.

She absolutely loves her walks in the country. We had the opportunity to take several long walks this weekend, and she does just great. She doesn’t spend much time sniffing or playing and is really good at keeping a nice walking pace. I felt a little bad when we had to come inside, but was sooo cold this weekend.

Grigio and her foster brother, Charlie are getting along fabulously. Charlie thinks he is the wrestling champion of the world, but at almost 25 lbs. I thought I should worry some about Grigio. But she holds her own, and even has become the occasional instigator of a vigorous play session.

But this is supposed to be my bed !

I guess the floor will do. I just want to be near my brother.

I have noticed little or no shedding from Grigio. Her coat is a beautiful red color and very soft.

Here comes Grigio

Grigio has made it to Madison WI. Well sort of. We live about 15 mins west of Madison.

She is so sweet and happy.

Click on the pic below for a short (not great) video we took right after our walk. We didn't even have time to get the leash off :)

We are new to fostering and not sure what to expect, but so far so good. Grigio is being very patient with us.
