Carrington's dog park fun

Loving the park!

Click on pics to play the videos.

Carrington size estimate

Carrington is approx 18 inches from floor to shoulder and about the same 18 inches from collar to the base of her tail.

(Only approximate... Cuz I couldn't get her to stand still )

She is not 25 inches tall.
That would be a reeeealy big dog :-)
Sorry for the type-o in the previous post.

Carrington 24 hour update

Carrington has been with us just over a day. Here is what we know so far. As always.... all this could change over time.

Housetraining – She definitely has some experience.  No accidents so far.

Crate- Not a fan of going into the crate at night. She fussed for a short time. But quickly quieted down and was silent all night with a nice clean crate in the morning.

Leash- We need practice with the leash. There is no pulling or lunging. She is just “clueless” at this point. No experience.

Food/Eating- She is eating grain-free kibble twice each day with her foster brother with no issues. Not a huge fan of treats. So….currently not “food motivated”, but that could change. She loves to chew on hooves, rawhides, and knuckles.

Socialization-   Very friendly to both dogs and women. Just a small amount of hesitation toward my husband that quickly subsides when he dotes on her

Personality – Carrington is a very friendly happy girl, playful and curious. She is a little “busy”. There is currently constant movement. Nothing naughty, just a lot of playing and investigating the house. She behaves as though she has very little experience indoors, or she is much younger than our estimate. To me…. I see puppy behavior. She is just bouncy and full of life.

Size/Coat- She is probably at least 25 inches floor to shoulder . I will post actual measurements soon. All I know now is that she is much taller than our Charlie. Carrington is built like a Husky with long legs and a lean body. She has a very soft undercoat with long straight fur over the top. (Very Husky-like). She is currently very thin. We will work on “filling her out”. She was shaved down on her back legs and rear-end., but it has already started to grow back.

Cambree, whatcha lookin at?

Do you think she can see the geese??

Cambree's busy day

As you can see in the previous post, Saturday was a lazy day around the Einy house. Boy, did we make up for it on Sunday. My husband had all kinds of errands to run in the morning and we decided that Cambree, Charlie and I would ride along. We thought it might be a good trial run, since I could sit in the car with the dogs, while my husband darts in and out of the stores. Cambree was amazing. She is a great car rider. She would stand occasionally to look out the window, but spent most of her time just lying quietly on the back seat. No pacing, no jumping, no barking, and no trying to escape. Just amazing.
She did so well in the morning that we decided to take a ride again in the afternoon. This time it was a 45 min trip one way. Once again she did just great, and both dogs were rewarded with a trip to a brand new dog park (new to us anyway) on the way home.  Lucky for us there were no other dogs at the park, so we had a chance to let Cambree do her own thing, but she never strayed more than a few feet from us humans. Even as Charlie bounded around and encouraged her to play, she decided to just follow us. I think she had a good time, just in her own way. She just really enjoys hanging with her people.
Sorry, we didn’t get a chance to take many pictures, but here are the pups riding home after the park.

Charlie always has an eye on things (ha ha)
Cambree is zonked.

Oh, I almost forgot. Cambree met the BIG dog from down the street on Sunday morning. He is a happy, friendly, 90 lb Pitbull mix that is always looking to play. He came darting toward us at a full gallop and I braced myself for trouble. But… Cambree just politely let the big guy “greet” her and stood calmly as he moved on to ask Charlie to wrassle. She handled it very well, and I think it’s safe to say she is “dog friendly”. She currently has no interest in playing, but is more than tolerant and very patient with the two silly boys she's met this week.

Welcome Cambree

Cambree has been with us 48 hours and here is what we know.

What a doll

Housetraining : She definitely has some background knowledge. We had just one accident. Just need to brush up on the basics.

House Manners: Hasn’t chewed on anything. No scavenging. No jumping on the furniture.

Leash Manners: Very good on the leash. It’s almost like she is “heeling”. There is no pulling and she walks calmly by my side. This may change as she gains confidence and becomes familiar with her surroundings, but for now she is a breeze to walk.

Eating:  Gobbles up her kibble twice a day, and is looking for more. She is VERY hungry and could use to gain a few pounds. That being said, there is no food aggression, and she politely waits for her dish. She also takes treats gently from my hand.

Crate Trained:  She goes in the crate easily, and sleeps quietly thru the night. She also spends time in the crate during the day while I’m at work without any problems. We have been giving her hooves and pigs ears to work on while we are gone, which she just loves.

Dog Friendly: She tolerates our Charlie just fine, but shows no interest in playing. (Poor Charlie) They eat together and spend time together on the rug “chewing”, but do not really interact. This may change. It usually takes the fosters a few days to warm up. We will keep you posted.

Toys: She currently has no interest in toys. Prefers to chew on hooves, knuckle, etc.

Personality:  Cambree is quiet (not a peep), gentle and a little submissive. I believe she is used to being held. She will come up to me, curl herself into a ball, and look up and ask to be picked up. She is not fearful, but cautiously curious. She explores the house, and does not react to loud noises or voices. She does hesitate when my husband goes to her, or wants to play. Not afraid. Like I said…. She’s cautious. She will eventually play with him, but she will make sure it’s OK first. She has apsolutely no problems “playing” with me, and would love me to just sit with her ALL DAY.

Size:  Sorry, I did not take measurements, but Cambree is a great size, and maybe a little bigger than the typical “lap dog”. I will give her measurements on another post. She could stand to gain a pound or two, which would put her at about 20 lbs. all filled out.

Coat: Her coat is a very dark grey, or charcoal  with a hint of brown on her feet and muzzle. And SOOO very soft. The softest coat I have every felt. It’s amazing. She is a little ragged. Perhaps someone had to cut out mats, and then she was shaved for her spay. She definitely needs it to grow out, and then get a proper grooming. She has had a recent litter of pups, and we are working on getting her girlish figure back. Fresh air, plenty of exercise and high quality food and it won’t take long. She’s gonna be one BEAUTIFULL girl.
