Farrah pictures

Farrah's haircut is starting to grow out. She has the beginnings of scruffyness on her face.

I love it!

I admit we may have gone a little short but I think she's gonna be gorgeous when the fur grows out more.

Here I come

Closer

A little closer.

Oh won't someone come meet me?

Quick update

Sorry, no new pictures today

Things have settled into a routine in the Einy house. It’s amazing, three dogs and no potty accidents. Our two foster girls are doing great with housetraining. They are also getting along fabulously. We are all one big happy family (or pack).

Katie is feeling much better since her spay. She is still a gentle loving girl, but she definitely has found some pep in her step. She is bounding around the house, and is VERY eager to go on our walks. We have learned with her new energy, she has some learning to do with the leash, but she is coming along nicely.

We love Farrah, and she seems to have settled in nicely with us, but it is time for her forever family to find her. She is great on the leash, housetrained and greets new people and situations calmly. We have seen very little to no “guarding” of her crate, and she is playing with Charlie every day now (Charlie is very pleased)
So……She is READY for a place of her own. Won’t you come and meet her??

The girls make a liar out of me

I swear they did it on purpose. My two girls decided to get along just fine the day AFTER I publish a post about how they need to stay apart. Below is proof of how everyone is playing nice.

Oh brother, I just can’t win, but I am very, very happy !!

What's for dinner?

And a bonus video of Katie.... Enjoy

Update on both our girls

Sweet, sweet Katie. What Can I say? She is quiet, gentle and seems to be housetrained. I think she came from a home where she had people who loved her. I’m just guessing of course. She wants so desperately to be near me, and especially my husband. I can’t help but think she is lonely for her person. Perhaps a man. Perhaps a man who took her hunting ?? She just seems a little lonely. Maybe one of you reading this blog has the time and ability to love our dear Katie. She just needs that special person to bring her into their home and give her all the attention a good girl should have.
Katie came to us newly spayed. So our outdoor time has been limited to leisurely strolls down the country road, and time in the back yard. We see hints of a dog that is ready to burst into a full run. I bet she is graceful and fast. I think we will try the dog park this weekend and let her show us her stuff. I will let you know how that goes.
We are also interested to see how Katie reacts to other dogs. She seems to have taken to our Charlie just fine, although the first day she did give him a little growl when he tried to share some of my attention when I was petting her. That was the very first day, and we have not seen anything like it again. The two of them have been getting along fine ever since.
Now a little update on Farrah. She has made great progress in our few weeks, and is a happy little pup……except for the first few days Katie moved in. Poor Farrah was not happy about the new roommate.  She was completely fine and happy while Katie was in her crate, but when we let Katie out, Farrah would get upset, growl some, and retreat to her own crate. When Farrah was in her crate and Katie would happen to walk by, again we would get a growl. Now we are not sure if this is because Katie is female (Farrah loves Charlie our male), or because Katie is BIG, so we took to only having one girl free in the house at a time (sad). However…. This morning I came in from outside with Katie and due to some unfortunate timing, Farrah met me at the door. I thought we were in for trouble, but much to my surprise, I was able to walk Katie right by Farrah without incident. So…. Maybe Farrah just needed some time. We will continue to monitor the situation and give updates, but for now it might be best for Farrah to have SLOW introductions to females and/or big dogs. More to come on this………
I love having both fosters in the house. It’s been fun, but a little crazy. We are not really set-up to have three dogs at one time. Hopefully someone out there is ready for one of our great foster girls. They are both housetrained, good with people, and completely ready for their forever homes. They will make great family members.

Farrah loves the warm weather

Farrah was out in the yard with us today. Here's a video of how happy she is to be out in the sun. Please don't think she was tied up to a post all day. It was just so I could hold the camera :)

Farrah's progress

Farah has made great progress this week. She is settling in nicely. She is far less skittish and does not react to load noises or quick movements any more. She does very little barking and seems much more relaxed. In fact, when my daughter and her husband (and my new grandson..yeah )stopped by on Wednesday, my daughter asked if she was the same dog they saw the week before. And her husband remarked that Farrah’s personality seemed completely different. Farrah had greeted them calmly at the door and spent the evening asking for pets and smelling the baby. She was very calm and gentle around the baby, and really didn’t react to crying in any way.

In my book, Farrah is nearly housetrained. She is very reliable and has had no accidents since the first week. The only thing holding her back from 100% is that she does not “ask” to go out. She just uses every opportunity to do her thing when she is outside, and does not seem to need to request to go out.

Farrah has had another ride in the car and handled it like a pro. She has got this down. I think she really enjoyed it.

Speaking of having things under control, Farrah is a leash walking pro. She just loves her walk. I am no breed expert, but I would swear there is some Beagle in her somewhere. Once we are outside the tail goes up and the nose goes to the ground, and there is not a bird or rodent that will escape her smeller. It is so much fun to watch. Even though she is “hunting” there is no tugging on the leash and she is very in-tune with me. If I stop, she stops. If I ask her to cross the road, she crosses. Yes, very in-tune and a good listener.

Oh, I almost forgot. I need to mention how happy our dog Charlie is this week. Farrah has agreed to spend short periods of time “wrassling” with him. Oh he is soooo happy. In case not everyone knows, our dog Charlie just LOVES to play. He “wrassles” with anyone, and anything, including the 100 lb lab from across the street. This week, after countless requests, Charlie finally got Farrah to say yes to play. It is fun to watch, and a good sign that Farrah is making the transition to a happy and healthy pup

Charlie wrassling with his cow.
But...foster sisters are more fun.

Farrah's new look

So I took Farrah to a groomer and asked that we " even out" her coat and that it was OK to go a little shorter.

So here she is. We certainly got our moneys worth. I think I like it. But maybe it's just growing on me.

She's very soft now.(And smells really good too) The groomer said she did great. She was a little timid but very polite. I'm so proud of her.

A walk in the sun

It looks nice but boy is it cold

Housetraining is going great. Farrah is very predictable. She will always go both 1 and 2 on her morning walk and do both again on her afternoon walk. Then she will go one more time just before bed. We have had no accidents for a week now.

Farrah went for a car ride! Although she was frightened at first, she behaved very well. We could tell she was nervous, but she stood quietly. As we stopped here and there to run errands she began to look out the window and seemed to enjoy the activities going on around the car. She must have decided that riding was pretty OK, because she lay down and closed her eyes on the way home. What a trooper. Such a smart girl.

Farrah is slowly coming out of her shell. She is spending more and more time with us and with her foster brother. She’s quiet and gentle, but still just a little afraid at times. The last few days she has taken to following my husband around the house. It could be that he is much more liberal with the treats than I am. Who could blame her?
