Dorothy two week update

Ok, ok, so it's been more than two weeks.
I admit it, I've been a little lazy about blogging.
Between cleaning, cooking and playing with grandbabies over Thanksgiving, the blog has taken a back seat.

Dorothy is doing great and is a dream to take care of.

She has been accident free and reliably housetrained in our home.

She walks great on the leash. No pulling. Listens well. She does occasionally put her nose to the ground in hopes to find that bunny or squirrel, but she's not driven to do so, and she is easily called off the scent. She loves being outside and is always excited for a walk.

Dorothy crates easily with or without a treat and sleeps quietly in a crate in our bedroom at night. She also spends time quietly in a crate when we are at work, although she has also earned the privilege of free time alone in the house for short periods of time.

Dorothy has done great with all the people she has met, from my 80 year old mother to my 6 month old granddaughter. She greets gently without barking or jumping, and will cuddle up on any lap she finds. We hosted Thanksgiving at our house and had over 12 people in and out. Dorothy showed no signs of stress, and every time I checked on her, she was on someone's lap just chilling.

We haven't had the chance to meet any new doggie friends, but she and our resident dog get along great. She has not instigated play with him, and when he asks her, she defiantly says NO! Will she play some day? Maybe, maybe not, but that's not really a big deal as she seems to like having him around and defiantly looks to him for guidence.

Dorothy is about 15 lbs and a little longer than she is tall. Although she looks scruffy, her coat is actually very soft and graduates from black to brown with white speckles on her face. When out in the sun, we see red highlights in her under coat. The ears, the soft coat with red highlights, causes me to think she may be part Yorkie.

Whatever she is, she's definitely a keeper and would fit into any home.

Dorothy and the kids

My niece and nephew stopped over last night.

Although a little hesitant in the beginning, Dorothy just loved the extra attention, as you can see from the pictures.

Dorothy finds a new spot

My husband sent me this shot.

I guess when "mom" is not around, "dad" will do.

Such a gentle soul.

Dorothy pics

Things have been nuts around here, and I just don't seem to find the time to get good shots of Dorothy.
These will have to do for now.

(Or at least that's the excuse I'm using)

Maybe....... I'm in no particular hurry to see her go.

This is her favorite spot. I can find her there anytime I sit. Adorable, sweet, calm girl.

Welcome Dorothy

I know it’s only been a few days,
but I am absolutely in love with Dorothy!!

Here’s a few reasons why.

Done all her business outside

Gentle, cuddly, calm, couch potato. Probably the least demanding dog I have ever met

Although she hasn’t initiated play with our resident dog, she shows him respect and they get along great

Sleeps quietly all night

Not a picky eater

Crates easily

Walks nicely on the leash

Good listener, and follows direction

Although she looks “scruffy”, her fur is actually quite soft and low to no shed.

She just lights up when you take her outside. Her big ears go up, her tail wags and she has the cutest wiggle bottom as she skips beside me.

Someone is going to get VERY lucky when they adopt this sweet, sweet sole.

ps.... I will do my best to post pics of a non-resting Dorothy soon
