Ruby's truck ride

Every pickup should have a shaggy dog.

I think riding is new for Ruby, but like everything else she approached it calmly and quietly and quickly learned to adapt.

I'm falling in love with this gentle soul!

Ruby's unplanned bath

Poor Charlie HATES a bath.
But it's required the night before his job.

( He is a Petpal volunteer at the Children's Hospital in Madison. )

So.....there was a tub full of warm soapy water just sitting there and I thought
"what the heck"

I called Ruby into the bathroom and asked her if she wanted to get in the tub.

I couldn't believe my eyes.
She walked up to the tub and started to climb in.

I did have to help her climb over the edge, but once in she stood perfectly still and got out of the tub all by herself when I told her she was finished.

I'm still just flabbergasted!!!!

Here's a video of the official dry-off.

PS.....notice her tail is still Waggin !

Ruby's measurments and video

Hi everyone !

I am about 19 inches at the shoulders.
And, about 24 inches from my collar to the base of my tail.

These measurements are not exact,
cause I just kept wiggling into position for a pet.

More good news

I am still accident free !!

My foster mom is declaring my "housetrained" !!

Ruby first 24 hrs

I hesitate to write too much about Ruby for now. She just seems completely exhausted. She spent most of her first 36 hours sleeping and eating. Late yesterday I did start to see some personality coming through, as she went to the toy box and found a fuzzy critter to play with.
That being said, here is what we know so far.

Housetraining –  No accidents so far. Ruby seems very comfortable in our home and I believe she has some history with housetraining. Time will tell, and we will keep you updated.

Crate- She hesitates a little when asked to crate. But with a treat and some encouragement, she will go in on her own. Once inside she settles right down and is very quiet. She slept soundly through the night without a peep.

Leash- Currently Ruby walks well on the leash, however she appears to be VERY out of shape. We walk very slowly, and don’t go very far before she is tired and panting. Who can blame her. It was her first day away from her TEN puppies. ( I think she is pretty uncomfortable because of the weaning process. ) Poor girl needs time to re-coupe and re-energize.

Food/Eating- Ruby has no problem eating what is put in front of her. Under all those white curls is a very thin and hungry girl.

Socialization- Ruby is friendly and calm. She walked right up to me and put her head on my lap waiting for a scratch. When finished she went over to my husband and asked for the same. So no preference between men and women for her. She did well with everyone both human and canine at the daycare on her arrival day. She also did well with our resident male dog, Charlie. However when he asked over and over again for her to play, she pretty much just ignored him. I think this might change when she feels more like herself again. And I KNOW Charlie will keep asking. Ha Ha. She does not startle to any noises or household activities. She seems very well adjusted.

Personality – Calm, friendly and very quiet. We haven’t heard a peep from her. Very laid back. (For now). We will update this section when we get to know her a little better.

Coat/Size- Here is where the mystery begins. I have absolutely no idea what breed(s) this girl is. She puzzles me. She is sized and shaped very much like a Lab, without the thick long tail. Her coat is very curly, but not soft like a poodle (Wire Terrier?). The coat is thin, and underneath you can see that her skin has black spots (Dalmatian? Pointer? ).  Her head is very “block-like” and square ( Lori thought Airedale? I see Great Dane ?) and her eyes are somewhat droopy (Bloodhound? Basset?) . Her body is slightly longer than it is tall. (Basset again ? or PBGV? ). When I see her from afar, I think I see an Old English Sheepdog ( My Husband laughed at me about that. ) I did notice a little shedding, but she had just had a bath and face it, the poor things been through a lot. I will post measurements in the next day or two.

Welcome Ruby

Yes, Ruby
Poor Sassy missed her ride north.
But I've heard she is in a caring foster home, so she's safe and loved for now.

So.....here's Ruby

First impressions

Quiet
Gentle
Friendly

I'll post more after we let her decompress.

Sassy is coming soon

Hi from the Einy ranch.
If you been stopping by the blog in hopes for info on Sassy, I have good news. It looks like she will be arriving from Alabama sometime this weekend. Check back on Monday 7/18/16, as I hope to have some pics posted by then.
From what I have gathered so far, she is a reserved girl with a moderate activity level. When I find out more, I will be sure to let you know.
