Keep in mind that Jackson has been with us for only a day or
two. This is what we know now, but any and all of the below can change as he
settles in
Housetraining –
No accidents yet. Keeps his crate clean.
Crate- Crates
easily with a treat. Does cry for a minute when we leave for work, but is
resting nicely when we get home.
Leash- Loves
to go for a walk. There is a little wander back and forth, and he does put his
nose to the ground, but no pulling.
Food/Eating- Jackson
likes to take his time eating. He will nibble and then play, and then go back for
another nibble. So, I started feeding him in his crate to encourage him to
finish his bowl, and THEN go play.
Socialization-This
is where Jackson shines. He loves people, and he loves doggy friends. My
husband’s band had a practice in our basement last night and he loved everyone
that showed up at the door. He absolutely loves to “wrassle’ with our dog
Charlie (which makes Charlie VERY happy). He also met the BIG chocolate lab
from across the street with a wagging tail and an invite to play.
Personality –
Jackson is very smart, and picked up on house routines immediately. Show him
something once, and he has it. This is no couch potato, he is very busy, but
not in a neurotic way. He loves to play with Charlie and the basket of toys. He
will carry a toy around in his mouth. Toss it in the air and then pounce on it.
It’s fun to watch him keep himself busy. Jackson will let out a few load barks whenever
someone comes to the door, or he notices something unusual out the window. But it
is just a short “warning” and once he is sure all is safe, he settles down
quickly.
Coat/Size-
Jackson is about 12lbs, and we will try to get a measurement of his height
soon. His fur is soft for a Schnauzer, and has a slight wave. So maybe there is
a little something else mixed in. Maybe poodle ? He is a neat light black, or
very dark grey color with a small patch of white on his chest. You need to look
really close or you might miss the chest patch (very small). He has a short
stubby tail (that wags constantly)
