First night went well. We got home late and she was content
to just spend the evening in her crate, even though we had left the door open
for her. She slept quietly through the night.
In the morning she was hesitant to leave the crate, but with
a little persuasion we got the leash on and we were out the back door. She
quickly went potty as though she knew exactly why she was out there. (Super)
And then she needed a little more convincing that it was OK to go back inside.
I had to go to work, so back to the crate she went. When I got home she was
wagging her tail to see me, and the crate was clean and dry (yeah). She needed
no persuading to leave the crate this time, and new exactly where we were
going. She walked right to the back door, and waited for me to lead her out.
(What a smart girl). We gave her the freedom to explore a little, but she spent
most of the evening playing within just a few feet of her crate. I did catch
her sneaking a peek into the kitchen to see what all the racket was when we
were fixing dinner. And she did come to check on us in the living room once or
twice while we were watching TV. I think it will be a very short time before
she feels comfortable enough to join us.
All and all she has done really great. I can tell she is very
unsure, but she is so very brave. She does everything we ask, even though it
scares her. We have already seen great progress, and she will be out of her
shell in no time.
