We are nearly a week in with our latest foster, Triscuit. I
have to say that she had one of the easiest transitions to our home to date. She
just walked into the house last Tuesday and made herself at home.
Triscut had one potty accident that first night, but has
been 100% accident free ever since. I hesitate to claim her “housetrained”
simply because fosters are not given the chance to fail. All fosters are crated
overnight, and when they have free time, we go outside on the leash every 60 to
90 minutes. It’s a lot of work at first, but we have had pretty good luck
getting every foster trained quickly by just not letting them make any
mistakes.
She is pretty irresistible now, can you imagine what she’s gonna
look like after her haircut later this week. I can’t wait to see her all
cleaned up. I may not want to let her go.
I think Triscuit would make a great dog for the first time
pet owner. She is “turn-key” with “no assembly required”. She is ready to go
right out of the box. Happy, friendly and adjust to whatever and wherever with
a smile on her cute little face.
